Strength

Why we are strong in electrical work電気工事に、強い理由

We move right away. We meet tight deadlines. No excuses. We finish the details no drawing shows. Here are the four promises all of us keep, and the way we work on site to back them up.

Work that makes you think
“That went well”
when it's done.完成したとき、「良かった」と思える工事を。

Electrical work begins with bringing in temporary power and ends when the power is switched on and the lights come on. KD WORK is involved from 0 to 100. That is why there is real satisfaction when a job is finished.

We want to do work that we ourselves can say went well. To do that, we have set four promises that we all keep. None of them is anything special. They are things we simply keep doing, every day on site.

Promise 01 / Speed

We move right away.すぐに、動く。

The lights won't come on. A breaker keeps tripping. The work schedule suddenly changed. Electrical problems don't stop while you wait.

What we do

  • When you contact us, we first ask about the situation
  • Whatever we can tell from photos or drawings, we check on the spot
  • We decide in advance who goes on site and when, and which tools and meters to bring
  • We investigate until we find the cause, then tell you what we found and what comes next

On site

Ongoing requests from the same store, from temporary power to repairs after opening (new large electronics retail store, Tokyo)

After the new-build work in 2016, we also handled electrical repairs and added circuits from 2018 to 2025.

Promise 02 / Schedule

We meet
tight deadlines.急な工事も、間に合わせる。

Opening day, handover day, the day business resumes. If the electrics aren't ready in time, the building can't be used.

What we do

  • We plan the schedule backward from the opening or handover date
  • When time gets tight, we reorganize people and plans
  • We choose fixtures from any manufacturer and order with delivery times in mind
  • We settle interfaces with other trades early to reduce rework

On site

New large electronics retail store (Tokyo, 2016)

Electrical work across five floors of a redevelopment building by a station, with approx. 6,400 m² of sales floor. Wiring progressed in April and May, and in November, before opening, we added extra crew to finish. After opening, we continued to handle electrical repairs and added circuits.

Promise 03 / No Excuses

No excuses.言い訳を、しない。

Low ceilings. Old buildings. No drawings. A store that stays open. Every site has reasons why the work is hard.

We don't blame others for difficulty or awkward conditions. We accept the conditions as they are and work out what can be done within them.

What we do

  • For existing circuits with no drawings, we trace them by matching panels and fixtures one by one
  • When there is no route for the wiring, we work out and propose another path and finish
  • We tell you early what can't be done, and decide on an alternative together

On site

Lighting corrections and additions for sales floor refits at electronics retail stores (2019–2024)

We relocated and added lighting to match changes in sales floor layout, at stores in Aichi, Kanagawa, Tottori and elsewhere.

Promise 04 / Detail

We finish the details
no drawing shows.図面にない細部まで、仕上げる。

Drawings show where fixtures go and how circuits run. They don't show the wiring routes, how cables are bundled, or which way fixtures face.

What we pay attention to

  • Wiring routes, and the spacing of ties and supports
  • The orientation, height and alignment of light fixtures and outlets
  • Tidy wiring inside panels, and clear circuit labels
  • A clean finish to ceilings and walls after fixtures are installed

If circuits are labeled correctly, whoever repairs or extends them later won't be left guessing. The more hidden a place will be, the more carefully we finish it, as electrical specialists.

On site

Checking ceiling wiring before the ceiling is closed and recording it in photos (new large electronics retail store, Tokyo)

Our work reports for new stores include photos of the ceiling wiring taken before the ceiling was closed. The finish in places that become hidden can still be checked later.

Quality

Measured and checked
before handover.測って、確かめてから渡す。

Electricity is invisible. So after connecting, we measure, run things, and check. As standard practice in electrical work, we check the following before energizing and handover.

TEST 01

Insulation resistance

Insulation tester

We measure insulation between conductors and earth, and between conductors. Before energizing, we confirm there is no risk of leakage.

TEST 02

Earth resistance

Earth resistance tester

We measure whether the earthing (grounding) of equipment and panels is properly connected to the ground.

TEST 03

Voltage & phase rotation

Multimeter & phase rotation meter

After energizing, we measure the voltage at panels and outlets. On power circuits, we also check the phase sequence.

TEST 04

Circuit check

Matching panels and fixtures

We check one by one which breaker feeds which lights and outlets, and match it to the panel labels.

TEST 05

Load current

Clamp meter

We measure current with equipment running to check the load on each circuit.

TEST 06

Lighting test

Every fixture checked

We switch on the lights and check for fixtures that don't light, flickering, and dimming behavior.

TEST 07

Exit sign lights & emergency lighting

Emergency mode check

We check normal operation and emergency lighting under a simulated power outage.

TEST 08

Fire alarm & emergency broadcast

Activation & sounding check

We check signals from detectors to the control panel, and that bells and announcements sound.

In Operating Stores

Working in stores
that stay open.営業中の売場で、工事をする。

We have carried out renovation and maintenance work for electronics retail stores in 12 prefectures, from the Kanto to the Chugoku region. See projects by prefecture

When we work in a store that is open for business, we consider the safety of customers and staff, the impact on business, and the operation of fire & life-safety systems all at once. Working hours are set after hearing about opening hours and the needs of the sales floor.

01 Circuits

Decide in advance which circuits to shut off, and when

Which breaker cuts power to which lights, registers or fixtures? We trace the circuits beforehand and agree on the scope and timing of shutdowns with store staff before starting work.

02 Area

Mark off the work area

We mark off the area for ladders and materials and keep it separate from customer walkways. We protect floors and merchandise to prevent dirt and dust.

03 Safety

Don't leave fire & life-safety systems off

For work on exit sign lights and automatic fire alarm systems, we plan to keep the shutdown time and scope as small as possible, and confirm operation before we leave.

04 Cleanup

Clean up and restore the sales floor

When the work is done, we clear away removed fixtures and materials and return the sales floor to its usual state before leaving.

With SOWA

Electrical by KD,
HVAC by SOWA.
One group on one site.電気はKD、空調はSOWA。グループで一つの現場に。

KD WORK and SOWA SERVICE Co., Ltd. are both members of the SOWA Group. SOWA SERVICE is a general building services contractor (responsible for mechanical systems within the group): SOWA SERVICE handles HVAC, ventilation and plumbing, and we handle the electrical work. For jobs that need design, we work with the group's design company.

Replacing an air conditioner requires power supply work. In new builds, HVAC and plumbing pipes run through the same ceiling as electrical wiring. Even work at the boundary between trades proceeds with plans coordinated within the group.

On a new welfare facility in Aichi Prefecture, SOWA SERVICE handled HVAC, ventilation, plumbing and fire suppression, and we handled the electrical work. We also handled a store refit in Nagano Prefecture (all electrical work, alongside SOWA SERVICE's HVAC work).

People

Promises are kept
by each person on site.約束を守るのは、現場に立つ一人ひとりです。

Our four promises are kept by each person who does the hands-on work on site, every day. KD WORK is looking for electrical workers to join us, and partner contractors to build sites with us.
